As the leaves on the trees dry up and fall to the ground and the plants patiently await the first rain, all vegetation becomes dangerously dry.
Also adding to the possibilities of a fire this fall are the holiday preparations. Halloween decorations, Thanksgiving meal preparations, candles, Christmas trees, and Christmas lights, are all big contributors to fall fires.
In lieu of fall fire season, the Milwaukee Fire Department is spending this entire week raising fire awareness for National Fire Prevention Week.
This fun and interactive event at the Milwaukee Fire Department educates families about fire safety and prevention. Whether you think you know everything about fire safety or not, it is a good idea to stop by and hear what the fire department has to share; there may be new information that you do not know.
If you recently moved to Milwaukee, or are planning on moving to Milwaukee in the near future, this event can be of some use to you. Many states have different fire prevention and safety tips that uniquely apply to them. Demographics play a major role in fire prevention, so new residents should be sure to look into any differences that their new community concerns themselves with when it comes to fires.
The 2014 event will include daily activities through October 11th, focusing on the theme of “Smoke Alarms Save Lives”. If you are unable to make this year’s event, be sure to test your smoke detectors and mark your calendars for next year’s event on the week of October 4th. Feel free to reach out to your local Milwaukee Fire Department at any time in-between.
If you have children, this event is a fun way to introduce them to fire safety and can even help them make some friends in their new neighborhood. Join the Milwaukee Fire Department this week at the Survive Alive House in Milwaukee.
